dselect/dpkg weirdness

Hi!

lately when I try to update some packages on my sarge system via dselect
dpkg has been choking up like this:
...
Unpacking libwnck-common (from .../libwnck-common_2.2.2-1_all.deb) ...
Unpacking libwnck4 (from .../libwnck4_2.2.2-1_i386.deb) ...
dpkg:
/mount/md0/home/adam/debian/mine/dpkg/v1_10/dpkg-1.10.10/lib/dump.c:214:
w_dependency: Assertion `dyp->up == pigp' failed.
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg exited unexpectedly
Some errors occurred while unpacking. I'm going to configure the
...

When I try to do [I]nstall or [C]onfigure again, dselect/dpkg does
nothing.
The problem doesn't happen every time I run dselect, yet I have had
some three or four occurences. Does anybody know where to look and how
to fix this? Thanks!

Andrey
