Bug#172164: /var/lib/dpkg/info/ethdetect.postinst: error while loading shared libraries: libdebconf.so.0.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

* Noel Koethe

| as already reported at
| http://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2002/debian-boot-200212/msg00062.html
|
| I tried out the net image from the announce at
| http://people.debian.org/~tfheen/d-i/images/2002-12-07/cvs/
| net-1440.img 01-Dec-2002 15:16 1.4M

Somehow, a bug in my build scripts managed to not update the CVS
images properly. This is fixed now and new images are placed there
(they are the images which should really have been there). It would
be good if you could try that new image.

| Method: How did you install? What did you boot off? If network
| install, from where? Proxied?

Uhm, what did you do? :)

| 1.
| ...
| Cannot open templatefile /var/lib/cdebconf/templates.dat

Harmless, but should be fixed, I agree.

| Prompt: 1 - 5> 4
| /var/lib/dpkg/info/ethdetect.postinst: error while loading shared
| libraries: libdebconf.so.0.3: cannot open shared object file: No such
| file or directory
| postinst exited with status 32512

This is due to the ancient images. Please retry with the current
image.

| I cannot use the floppy to access the IDE Controller.:(
| The machine hangs when I choose the harddisk detection but this might be
| a kernel problem.
| the woody disks don't work, too.
| I just could get Redhat 8.0 :( installed on this test machine.

This sounds like a kernel problem. I couldn't find anything on
google, though. Try upgrading the BIOS (not that it should matter,
but it might matter anyhow :/ )?
