I had the same problem, on a 486DX4, it kept saying something about
detecting the IRQ of pin A, and it reported the IRQ as 0. Point was, that
every PCI slot had to have an IRQ assigned to it by the BIOS (don't ask me
why). So I set my BIOS to assign IRQ 11 to my NIC, and it worked..
