GNOME crashes

I receive consistent gnome crashes when I select Help-Extended Features
in LyX. To repeat, just run: lyx, select the Help menu, then select the
Extended Features submenu. The problem reoccurs.
The X server keeps running after the crash (Of course, I'm being
kicked out of my account, and returns back to gdm).

In /var/log/daemon.log there is the following message:
---------------
Jan 20 10:28:59 retina gnome-name-server[20239]: server_is_alive: cnx[IDL:GNOME/Panel2:1.0] = 0x8055a68
Jan 20 10:29:16 retina gnome-name-server[20228]: Receveived signal 1 shutting down.
---------------

When LyX tries the ``Extended Features'', it seems to fail to grab a certain
font, giving the following messages (recorded before the crash):
---------------

I guess that's not what they meant by ``Extended Features''... ;-)
