installation problem 2: missing module dependency

Trying to install the current draft version of potato, using
boot-floppies version 2.2.16-2000-07-14, I encountered the
following:

There seems to be a problem with kernel module dependencies.
It seems that module lp depends on module parport_pc, but the
dependency is not known by the dependency-resolution system.

Trying to install module lp fails unless module parport_pc
is installed first.

(It seems that module dependencies normally are detected by the
system, since installing one driver module sometimes causes more
than one to be loaded.)

Also, when I got parport_pc and then lp installed, I tried lsmod.
It showed that parport was used by lp and parport_pc, but
didn't show that parport_pc was used by lp.
