another one bites the dust

I just took a cursory look at some recent messages, and it seems that this
problem is affecting quite a few people. The combination of an AMD
K6-2/3XX and a 2940U[W] seems to be the bad mix.

Ironically, I just started learning how the boot-floppies package works,
and when I tried my first test build out, my system hung. I thought I had
done something wrong, but then I tried the regular 2.1 rescue image and that
one hung too. Lastly, I looked for related messages on the mailing lists,
and among them, I found yours - the most recent one.

When slink was released, I upgraded from hamm over the net with apt. You
might want to try that; it worked very nicely for me.
