---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Debian Stable Updates Announcement SUA 198-1 https://www.debian.org/ debian-release@lists.debian.org Julian Andres Klode April 22nd, 2021 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Package : apt Version : 1.8.2.3 Importance : high APT is the primary high-level package management tool used on Debian. In order to protect against unexpected, and potentially malicious, changes to package repositories, APT verifies that various items of metadata relating to an existing repository have not changed since the repository was configured. In the event of such a change occurring, it will require manual intervention to allow the continued use of the repository. The list of metadata items considered by the version of APT currently in "buster" to require such acknowledgement includes the suite name. In preparation for the upcoming release of Debian 11 "bullseye", this update revises the default mode of operation such that changes of suite name are automatically accepted. We strongly recommend that you install this update, to avoid the need to explicitly acknowledge the change from "stable" to "oldstable" for a sources.list entry referencing "buster". Upgrade Instructions -------------------- You can get the updated packages by adding the stable-updates archive for your distribution to your /etc/apt/sources.list: deb https://deb.debian.org/debian buster-updates main deb-src https://deb.debian.org/debian buster-updates main You can also use any of the Debian archive mirrors. See https://www.debian.org/mirrors/list for the full list of mirrors.
