Bug#243012: "Disconnecting: Bad packet length" error after several hours

The "Disconnecting: Bad packet length" problem still occurs with
a 2.4.26 kernel. Moreover, I tried two different ssh connections
greux.loria.fr -> ssh.ens-lyon.fr and greux.loria.fr -> loria.loria.fr
and in both cases, the connection was closed after several hours with
the error "Disconnecting: Bad packet length ...". So, it doesn't seem
to come from the ssh server.
Also, I could notice that all the ssh sessions where data were
transmitted are closed at the same time when the problem occurs
(e.g. 2004-04-29 12:38:25). Sleeping connections (where no data
transmissions occur at this time, because the shell is waiting
for input) are never affected by this problem.
At the same time 2004-04-29 12:38:25, I noticed that the network
operations were very slow, and I did a ping from my machine:
greux:~> ping macker
