My suggestion would be to install using the netboot installer in Wheezy:

Or install SUSE Linux for SPARC:

Let me know when you want to try SUSE Linux for SPARC, I can send you the TFTP image.

You can then replace the kernel with a custom one which I can provide to you
to test the kernel patch on your Netra X1.

There is also a netboot kernel and initrd available here:

I have never tested it though.

I guess I shall make more coffee and try that.
