Re: V210 booted from iso and installed but could not find mirror?

Hi Adrian and Gregor,

Thank you both for your help. I don't actually have the 2nd CPU installed yet so instead grabbed:

linux-image-4.19.0-5-sparc64_4.19.37-6_sparc64.deb

This does indeed seem to be more stable. vsftpd hasn't crashed on installation and openssh is also installing now.

Thank you both!.

I'll have a play for the rest of the weekend.

I still have some other sun machines like a Sun Blade 2000 and Sun Ultra 80 in storage on the other side of the world. I'll need to  work on getting them here now to get working again.

Sadly my brother trashed my Sun Blade 1500's and 2500's plus E220R, E420R and E280R, E450 and Ultra 1 whilst I was away on a work contract and I doubt I'll ever get to replace them or it would be quite a nice SUN Zoo!

Regards

Brian

Try installing and booting an older kernel first:

# wget http://snapshot.debian.org/archive/debian-ports/20190719T183113Z/pool-sparc64/main/l/linux/linux-image-4.19.0-5-sparc64-smp_4.19.37-6_sparc64.deb
# dpkg -i linux-image-4.19.0-5-sparc64-smp_4.19.37-6_sparc64.deb

Newer kernels are known to be unstable on older sparc64 machines.

Adrian
