Hi Daniel,

This problem is a classic...

You have two options:

- Buy on ebay two Creator3D cards (they are quite
cheap, no more than a few tens of $; without being
bad, they are significantly less performant than the
Elite3D), and install  using the sunffb driver. I used
this option and Debian ran straight away without any
problem.

- Elite3D is using the afb driver. Download from Sun
the patch containing the afb microcode and install it
once you have installed debian. The procedure has been
described many times in the list archives. I
personnally found it a bit tricky, and preferred to
undust a couple of Creator3D cards...
