Maybe removing /var/lib/ntp/ntp.drift, and restarting the ntp server ?

Olivier> What's the meaning of timer:dead ?

dead is the interrupt number. Since it is internally generated, there
is no real interrupt number, so a more or less random hex number was
picked up... ;-)

Olivier> Is someone running successfully a ntpd server on a debian/sparc ?
