FWIW there are 2 variants of Ultra5 video.Early models only had enough video RAM for 8 bit video, later ones were 24 bit capable.
Making the wrong assumptions in a driver could cause problems, is this bug reproducible on both variants ?.
AFAIK all 270MHz models are 8 bit, but I am not sure about when the change happened.
