This routine doesn't actually reference X11.  The new version on CVS
moves the includes into the "#if 0" block around the inform() function.

Files X.h and Xlib.h must be present in the system in the usual place,
because the package x-dev was installed by the build daemon. Does someone
understand the reason for the failure?
