I'm a Sparc64 user (Ultra2 1 CPU), running Debian/testing with a
2.6.10-rc3 kernel since a few weeks (my boot file is dated 04 dec
2004). The machine is up 24 hours a day, no warning. The only problem I have
is that I still don't have any sound. Everything related to sound is
compiled as module, and I don't load them automatically. When I do a
'modprobe snd-sun-cs4231', here what I get in the logs:
-----
ALSA sound/sparc/cs4231.c:1350: cs4231: port = 000001ffdc000000, id = 0xa
ALSA sound/sparc/cs4231.c:572: mce_down [000001ffdc000000] - auto calibration time out (0)
ALSA sound/sparc/cs4231.c:578: mce_down [000001ffdc000000]: serious init problem - codec still busy
ALSA sound/sparc/cs4231.c:443: out: auto calibration time out - reg = 0x0, value = 0x0
ALSA sound/sparc/cs4231.c:443: out: auto calibration time out - reg = 0x1, value = 0x0
ALSA sound/sparc/cs4231.c:443: out: auto calibration time out - reg = 0x2, value = 0x9f
ALSA sound/sparc/cs4231.c:443: out: auto calibration time out - reg = 0x3, value = 0x9f
ALSA sound/sparc/cs4231.c:443: out: auto calibration time out - reg = 0x4, value = 0x9f
ALSA sound/sparc/cs4231.c:443: out: auto calibration time out - reg = 0x5, value = 0x9f
ALSA sound/sparc/cs4231.c:443: out: auto calibration time out - reg = 0x6, value = 0xbf

The modules then loaded are:
-----
shining:~# lsmod
Module Size Used by
snd_sun_cs4231 27040 0
snd_pcm_oss 73316 0
snd_mixer_oss 23040 1 snd_pcm_oss
snd_pcm 118796 2 snd_sun_cs4231,snd_pcm_oss
snd_timer 30928 2 snd_sun_cs4231,snd_pcm
snd 71112 5 snd_sun_cs4231,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_timer
soundcore 12752 1 snd
snd_page_alloc 10440 2 snd_sun_cs4231,snd_pcm

before that, no module was loaded.
I still have no support for my PCMCIA SBUS card (an stp4020 I think),
and I don't think I'll ever have support for my Litronic 2102 PCMCIA
card readers (SCSI based).
