__alloc_pages: 2-order allocation failed
On our E450 (running Debian, of course :) ), I noticed the following
errors in /var/log/messages:
Mar 28 16:13:08 psychology kernel: __alloc_pages: 2-order allocation
failed (gfp =0x20/0)
These came to my attention when qmail-smtpd quit sending a banner on
port 25 (and quit responding, in general).
Upon further investigation, I found where this started:
Mar 28 16:13:08 psychology spamd[23288]: connection from localhost
[127.0.0.1] at port 50506
Mar 28 16:13:08 psychology spamd[23288]: handle_user: unable to find
user '<someuser>@psychology.rutgers.edu'!
Mar 28 16:13:08 psychology spamd[23288]: Still running as root: user
not specified with -u, not found, or set to root. Fall back to nobody.

failed (gfp =0x20/0)
Mar 28 16:13:09 psychology last message repeated 4 times
Box is running 2.4.27-1-sparc64-smp.
I've found no concrete causes of this problem, though

looks interesting - it's IBM zSeries-specific, but it does mention this
issue cropping up on older 2.4 kernels on 64 bit systems under heavy
load (which psychology experiences occasionally).
Any ideas?
