| i first partition both disks like this:
| one partiton for root
| one for swap
| one for misc
| then i install Linux first in the misc partition.
| after new kernel works, i initialize the RAID
| copy everyting over. (cp -a )
| then you can boot from the RAID or the misc. part. via OBP.

| however. _my_ problem is that SILO still uses my silo.conf from my
misc partition, and NOT the one in the RAID.

I think you can use silo -r for this (I think I did that and worked) or
it was -r -C combination. I used very similar idea for initial
installation as you describe ....
