I have been running Gentoo on my Sun Blade 100 at work for 6mths, but have reverted back to Solaris 9. Solaris seems to perform better under severe memory contraints (measly 256MB in this machine). You are correct.

And I am betting the Linux server software runs on x86, since they don't
