just apt-get install any window manager, to use it:
make it default:
update-alternatives --config x-window-manager
(make sure you start x-window-manager, not session manager!) next time
you start X you should get the new window manager.
to use it for given session:
most window manager have a menu of different window managers (not all,
e.g. KDE is missing this important feature, or at least it was missing
last time I checked).
