Okay, so does this sound familiar to anyone else?

Here's a snapshot of the crummy video:

As you can see, my desktop looks just hunky-dory, yet "lxdoom", as well as 
other games, come out really crummy.  Some 3D programs seem to look okay, as 
far as I can remember.

I'd appreciate it if the tip below rings a bell with someone, and they know 
how to fix this.
