Could you provide what you typed and what was
spit back out at you? Did you also try mdir
with a DOS floppy, checking the major and minor
numbers of the device in the 'ls' listing or
using /dev/fd0H1440 instead of fd0? Is there
an entry for 'fd' in /proc/devices (I assume so).
What kernel, distro, etc,
