FAQ anyone?
Hi folks,
This is probably none of my business, but I would like to make an
observation, and follow it with a silly question.
I subscribed to debian-sparc on September 13, 2000. At the time I was
having problems with my ELC. After that I had a problem with a netwatch bus
error which Anton Blanchard helped me with - I haven't fixed it yet - too
many distractions - don't give up on me yet Anton!
Since that time, I have seen many questions visit through with lots of
similar answers:
- How do I boot my xxx?
- My xxx doesn't boot with silo!
- How do I make X work on my xxx?
- My mouse doesn't work on my xxx?
- How do I cross-compile for my xxx?
- How do I make audio work on my xxx?
These questions are written off-the-top of my head. I subscribe to 20-odd
mailing lists (probably more :-(, so these questions came past often enough
to be burnt into my cortex. (There are 1161 messages in my Debian-Sparc
mailbox)
I haven't seen anyone ask for a FAQ, or point anyone to an FAQ, or even the
archives, or other cool resources.
Sooooooo, here's the silly question(s):
Is there a sparc-debian FAQ, where is it and why doesn't its URL get posted
here on a regular basis?
Before you respond: "Hey Onno, feel like maintaining a FAQ?" realise that I
use i386 Debian everywhere and that I have a little ELC sitting spare in
the corner that I thought would be cool if it also ran my favorite OS. (I
also dabbled in PPC Debian, but that's a story for a rainy day.) The ELC is
turned off, has no drives at the moment and hasn't booted for at least four
months - eg. Debian Sparc is not an active project for me, but I figure
that since Anton helped me, I should at least attempt to listen and even
offer assistance if I can - so far, I think I understand some of the
questions :-)
If you are offering to provide me with content and need someone to make it
look like English... tempt me.
PS. You may well be one of the people who answers lots of questions -
(thanks Ben, Joshua and Gabor) - I am not intending to insult your amazing
efforts. I just wonder if you could get more cool stuff done if there was a
FAQ. Not that it's any of my business how you spend your time, but I hope
you get what I mean.
Here's hoping that sticking my neck out doesn't hurt too much:-)
