I think you only need to have your / and(or) /boot partition in the
first GB of the hd. (If I remember well, this problem has already been
addressed some time ago in this mailing list.)
It is probably connected with the PROM revision, because i have an IPX and
a SS2 with 2 GB hard-disks which do not have this problem.
