Um, no, the documented way to write floppies out is with 'dd'.
This is raw device access; there is no problem with partition tables.

I have attempted to burn boot-floppies for a SUN4u architecure using
x86 and had no luck, even when 'fdformat'ing from SunOS (5.6) and the
(on x86) using dd with bs=1024. No luck.

So, um, is it a Sun4u problem?

Is there any way to write boot floppies for sparc at all from x86?

[Yes, I am able to tftp boot -- I'm concerned about the documentation,
 so that's why I care.]
