Well, I fixed it. I'm uploading a new bsdutils release & file a bug along with
my patches to the maintainer.

The UPS-HOWTO tells us to use USR1 if no SIGPWR available. However, SIGUSR1
already in used in init :-( In fact, the latest upsd package only makes use of
SIGPWR.
I move this discussion to the sparclinux list.
