Heh. The x86 debian X packages (libc6+alt-libc5) take about 60 hours
to build and package on my 486/40 (my personal debian machine.)

I'll note that the sparc in question is an SparcStation 1+ w/cg6,
currently running SunOS 4.1.3_U1, and since a bad sector took out
openwindows (such a loss :-) I built XFree86 3.1.2 instead... which
took *surprisingly* little patching, mostly makefile stuff as I
recall. I haven't had a chance to update it, this would be an excuse
to look at that too. Still, I'd be interested in seeing the patches
you've got -- since, ideally, it would just be another case of running
dpkg-buildpackage in the debian X sources (the m68k and alpha are
*almost* there, I've not been as careful as I should about getting all
their changes folded in but the bulk of them are now...)

Mmmm. I'll contact you directly tomorrow after I've figured out a
short-term dropoff point.
