That's not a problem -- its how LaTex (and thus JadeTeX) works.
Call it a "misfeature".

No, it can only handle PDF.

Again, these are LaTeX issues, not docbook-stylesheets or even JadeTeX
issues.  I agree its a pretyt major pain in the butt to deal with all
this from the "document engineer" standpoint, but I don't know what I
can do about it.

Oh -- you're asking for PDF versions of those GIF files?

If that's what your asking for, sure, I could provide EPS and PDF
formats -- that's what you need, right?

Well, now we're going beyond the formatting stylesheet and intot he
domain of a whole SGML build system (which is much more than what even
sgmltools-lite does, although it kinda tries to do that).

BTW, I have a nice package called preheat that I think could be
extended to manage image formats with a little bit of agreement/work
by document authors.  Let me know if you wanna take a look at that.
it's scheme based and rather than sgmltools approache, which I didn't
like, it generated Makefile rules.
