They can if they are satisfied with the features that were in Squeeze.  But we 
have lots of other repositories for people who want more, for two random 
examples there's debian-mm for people who want codecs that aren't in Squeeze 
for legal reasons and backports.

Another feature of my repository is that I include some packages built with 
features that aren't liked by the DD who maintains them.  Such as ffmpeg 
packages that don't need execmod permission on i386.  This makes it a little 
slower but means that it will be more difficult for someone to attack your 
system with a hostile movie file.

There are many DDs who maintain their own repositories with more features than 
is in Stable.

Not everyone does it, but many do and it's better for users.

No, you have the stable packages for things that you don't care much about and 
use newer versions for things that are important to you.

The only way that could be "fixed" is if I was to stop development after 
Wheezy is released.
