I can confirm the fact that Mo said (I think in private discussion):
"I've rewrote the build system for the C++ interface only. Getting also
the Python3 module build is way more complex - basically rewriting all
I did from scratch." So the idea was tried but it seems bazel is the
more sustainable approach.
