even GLX is possible: I did for
https://github.com/neurodebian/afni/blob/debian/18.0.05%2Bgit24-gb25b21054_dfsg.1-1/tests/xvfb-driver#L41
xvfb-run --auto-servernum --server-num=20 -s "-screen 0 1024x768x24 -ac +extension GLX +render -noreset" "$@"
in the "test driver", worked nicely!
