I remember you sad this - but I was hoping for other people here. :-)

The problem is: The applications I'm dealing with in the Debian Med team
(currently fastqc but more to come) are simply using the
libsis-jhdf5-java interface.  I would rather ask the upstream authors to
switch to those alternative interfaces.  Unfortunately I have basically
no Java knowledge and I have only a rudimentary idea what HDF5 might be.
That makes me a perfectly incompetent person to give good reasons
against something that might have been a well thought decision.

Bernd, could you possibly elaborate on the differences between
libsis-jhdf5-java and the other implementations and do you see any
chances to may be join forces with the other projects?
