This is something for upstream to fix, but since you are also upstream,
well :o) I have contributed a typos.patch that fixes the last two typos
in the source tree. It is in the debian-science git repository.

My hunch is that you have a strip already in your regular build, which
is why nothing is left at this stage for the Debian packaging to separate.
