It's a library containing data structures for use when calculating
Groebner bases. Note that it doesn't actually calculate Groebner
bases. That's done by another library, mathicgb, by the same upstream
author. I'm currently working on packaging it as well.
If you're not familiar with Groebner bases, they are sets of generators
for ideals in polynomial rings which are particularly useful in many
algorithms. They're essentially the bread and butter for researchers
interested in computational algebraic geometry and commutative algebra.
