Re: new netcdf packages: first review

Hi Alastair,

the basis netCDF package is shaping up; a number of patches have been
submitted upstream and basically we're only waiting for a release now.

Two things that are not (yet) working:

  * installation of shared and static libraries (so far shared-only),
  * installation of serial and parallel versions.

In fact, the latter is quite interesting to me since I need parallel
netCDF for one of my application codes. I'm not sure how what the best
debian/rules would be to ship them both; maybe you guys can give some
advice here.

Cheers,
Nico
