Re: Segmentation fault in XOP on Etch

Hi again Yury:

I just downloaded XOP again from teh ESRF site and tried it on another machine running sid. It works fine.

The kernel, as you can see below, is a new one.

Linux oxide.phys.iit.edu 2.6.18-3-k7 #1 SMP

I will try again on my other computer and let you know more later.

Does somebody using XOP on Etch can confirm this behavior?

Did you switch to Linux 2.6?

Yes, my system is Etch with 2.6.18-3-686 from Etch Debian distr.

Does it go away with Linux 2.4?

You are right. After switching to 2.4.27 kernel from Sarge XOP works well. The
only inconvenience is that there are no any 2.4 kernel package in Etch. And, of course,
it is necessary to reboot every time I need XOP.

Does "sudo sh -c 'echo -n 1 >/proc/sys/vm/legacy_va_layout'" fix it?

This does not have any difference.

Thank you, Justin. With this clue it is possible to run XOP.
I hope in future it will run in Etch natively.
