Very encouraging news, but note that as Debian is fairly decentralised, it
would take one or more individuals to actually express an interest in
singular and to go ahead and package and maintainit. The 'formal' way to
suggest that is to file a so-called 'wnpp' (for 'work needed and prospective
packages') bug report requesting a package. And going by the 'requested'
list at

	http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/requested

it appears that has in fact happened two months ago: see

	http://bugs.debian.org/383515

But as I do not see singular in

	http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/being_packaged

so it would appear that your call for volunteers here is justified. Package
adoption is unpredictable -- it may, or may not happen, during any given time
span. So sorry -- we simply do not have the bandwidth to promise you a
singular package for any given timeline. Maybe one of computer-algebra
maintainers will jump at it ...

As for SAGE as a whole, it may be best to directly talk to the package
maintainers that cover whatever pieces you also use in SGAE. I for one would
be happy to help you where I can with my GNU GSL package if you'd need any
changes (and provided those changes do not have side-effects for other users,
of course).

Thanks, Dirk
