Re: 3D data visualization

If you want to visualize data using a programming language (C++, Python,
Tcl, Java)
I think the best solution is VTK (http://www.vtk.org)
If on the other hand you want to use a package that performs these
tasks, have a look
at LabPlot (http://labplot.sourceforge.net/) and MayaVi
(http://mayavi.sourceforge.net/).
All of the above are available in Debian.

Please bottom (inline) post to the messages.

labplot is currently unistallable on Debian Sid. Are others experiencing the same problem?

$sudo apt-get update

$sudo apt-get install labplot
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 labplot: Depends: libmagick++6 but it is not installable
E: Broken packages

$sudo apt-get install libmagick++6
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Package libmagick++6 is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
However the following packages replace it:
 libmagick++6c2
E: Package libmagick++6 has no installation candidate
