If you want to visualize data using a programming language (C++, Python,
Tcl, Java)
I think the best solution is VTK (http://www.vtk.org)
If on the other hand you want to use a package that performs these
tasks, have a look
at LabPlot (http://labplot.sourceforge.net/) and MayaVi
(http://mayavi.sourceforge.net/).
All of the above are available in Debian.
