I think this would be good. While the diffstat is pretty big, with some 
filtering it seems more palatable:

$ cat gstreamer1.0.debdiff | filterdiff -x '*/po/*' -x '*/tests/*' -x '*/NEWS' 
-x '*/ChangeLog' -x '*/debian/*' -x '*/gstreamer.doap' | diffstat

 37 files changed, 606 insertions(+), 160 deletions(-)

However, you have many changes in debian/ that are not appropriate for a stable 
update, particularly in debian/control. Please revert those as they shouldn't be 
needed.

How have you tested this?
