I see you bumped the SONAME diverging from upstream. If upstream broke the ABI
without bumping the SONAME that's probably the correct solution, but it'd be
good if you can convince them to bump it in the next version to avoid diverging
from them and other distros and breaking compatibility with third party binaries
(although in this specific instance I doubt it's much of a worry).

In any case you can go ahead with this.
