By nature this package is not heavily tested since you do not create
metapackages every day.  The problem also only occures if it happens
that you keep non-free or unstable in your sources.list.d dir -
otherwise everything is fine (the problem did not showed up for years).

So I do not see any reason for an additional waiting period.
