That's helpful for review, thanks; not having the noise in the first
place might be more helpful though...

I'm a little confused by the status of #689318. I couldn't find the
apparently affected code in the unstable package, but the bug metadata
indicates that it still affects unstable. Please could you clarify and
fix things up if/as required?
