Hello, I attach the diff. That package used an hand-made quilt-like patch system, so I've added the patch in debian/patches, modified rules so that it prints when patches are applied/unapplied. The -8 version has been used in sid. So I used the other one you suggested, and set myself as maintainer in control. About oldstable, Don't know.. I guess the same upload (recompiled) would do.
