Yes, this is a new upstream version.
However, the samba 3.5 series is now well stabilized and the Samba
Team has been very committed to its strict policy of "no new features,
only important (and trivial) bug fixes" (they have a release manager
who is about as strict as you guys are..:-)).
As samba maintainer for many years, I'm 100% confident that this new
upstream release is definitely an improvement over the current one we
have in squeeze and the probability of regressions is really low
(saying is is 0 would be exxagerated, of course)..
