Hi, The new upstream release for nano made me spot an upstream patch that got committed while I was on vacation: 2008-08-08 Chris Allegretta <chrisa@asty.org> * files.c (write_file): Check exit code of fclose(), since in certain out of space conditions the OS will happily report successful fwrite()s until you try and close the file. Fix for Savannah bug #24000: no free space on partition - nano claims successful write - file empty I think this was interesting enough to try to get a new revision in lenny, which I just uploaded to unstable. If updating it isn't a problem for d-i, I think it's a good idea to let this in. This is the only change in nano 2.0.7-4.
