I think there should be an update for this, Joey if you agree I'm
prepared to do the building and uploading on Sunday.

After discussion with upstream, and other people, I would strongly
suggest we leave it as-is. Reverting to the previous broken behaviour
introduces the hole that the update fixed. Yes it is extremely
unfortunate that this causes some breakage but that isn't something
that can be easiy handled.
