It is not necessary for wait for upload until pre-conditions are in unstable, it is possible to upload pre-conditions and targets both to NEW as well (done this many times) -- this saves time so if R.rsp is ready, let me know.

One question -- does anyone know a simple way to find the version of the R graphics engine in R itself? I ended up writing a little C program to do this, but it seems like there must be an easier way!
R_GE_definitions is the only way I know of, admittedly I don't know a better way to do it, than you did already. Nilesh
