I forwarded this information to the official KDE developers via their mailing list. I also pointed out to them that Debian suffers from a chronic lack of maintainers and suggested they try to help / support you as best they can. I hope they can provide you with human resources and thus help you maintain their program library under Debian. I must say that I am greatly surprised that, it seems, no one has asked them for help before this. The Debian maintainers who are volunteers who also have a job, a family, friends, a life to live... There are only 24 hours in a day. They can't be in the oven and at the mill as we say in French...In addition to the Ubuntu and kernel developers, who sometimes wear both hats and also help you maintain Debian, you should generally seek out other developers to help you
Well, thank you very much for your insights about how to run a project with thousands of contributors and tens of thousands of software packages. We surely lack that knowledge, and it's actually a miracle how we managed to get 18 stable releases out of that door in 32 years of existence without your wise thoughts.
Also, I bet that the KDE people will meet your advice with an equal amount of joy. This will also help them to produce high quality software.
And I personally thank you for the kind words you sent to me in private in response to the other recent e-mail I sent to this mailing list. You sent those private kind words about half an hour after your public reply, and they were so carefully crafted, personally thought out that they filled my entire day with joy about being a Debian Developer and having the honor to serve you with high quality software, a job we surely have failed by not assigning a volunteer to herd and pet your loved software package.
I will publish they next message you send me in private. Best regards. Marc -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marc Haber | "I don't trust Computers.
