Removing the bug also makes it not show up on debian-qt-kde ML, which is an unintended consequences, thus forwarding it there. ---------- Forwarded Message ---------- Subject: Re: Bug#897667: qt4-x11: Please add support for new architecture "riscv64" Date: zaterdag 5 mei 2018, 00:18:10 CEST From: Diederik de Haas <didi.debian@cknow.org> To: Manuel A. I recently went on a trip to remove all qt4 dependencies of phonon from my Sid system and I succeeded in doing so ... but it wasn't exactly straight forward. If you don't take special actions, it'll default to installing the qt4 version of phonon (at least partially). This seems to be the main culprit: $ aptitude why phonon-backend i desktop-base Suggests gnome | kde-standard | xfce4 | wmaker p kde-standard Depends kopete (>= 4:17.08.3) p kopete Depends phonon p phonon Depends phonon-backend-gstreamer | phonon-backend So I was able to succeed because I don't use kde-standard, but kde-plasma- desktop. Also, the most logically/naturally named phonon packages (phonon-backend-X) install the qt4 version of it. If you know what you're doing and know you don't want qt4, then you'll install phonon4qt5-backend-X package(s), but my guess is that it requires specific action to do the 'right' thing. There is now in experimental a version of kopete which no longer depends on kde4/qt4 stuff. If it's ready to be uploaded to sid, I'd suggest to then update kde-standard to depend on that version asap. (My uninformed and unqualified opinion is that you should start removing qt4 *really* soon from the archives or it'll end up again in Buster) My 0.02 -----------------------------------------
