Can't run KDE apps as root

To reproduce: Alt+F2, type Dolphin, then click on the "wrench" in the "Run Dolphin", then check "Run as a different user" checkbox, enter the username (root) and password. Dolphin starts seemingly with the same user's privileges instead of root's, no error message or other indication is given that something's wrong.

# uname -a
Linux testbox 2.6.32-5-amd64 #1 SMP Wed Jan 12 03:40:32 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Thanks

Hi,

* alt+F2, «kdialog --msgbox "$USER"»
-> small popup with my user name

* alt+F2, «kdialog --msgbox "$USER"», check "run as another user",
  user "root" and proper password
-> small popup with "root"

So yes, it works here too (hence closing, as also confirmed by other
users).

It was told you in another bug report, but let's repeat it for clarity:
  What happens in Gentoo hardly matters for Debian.
Period.
(and beside that, we do *not* have KDE 4.9.x, but we're currently using
KDE 4.8.4.)
